The Friends of Fisher House Connecticut are working hard to raise money to build a new Fisher House on the grounds of our West Haven campus. Fisher Houses are the military/veteran equivalent of Ronald McDonald Houses. These houses provide the loved ones of VA inpatients a “home away from home” near the facility while the veteran receives treatment. Accommodations are provided to family members at no cost. Currently, there are 54 Fisher Houses nationwide, all near military hospitals or VA facilities. Since 1990, Fisher Houses across the nation have provided services to over 142,000 families who have stayed more than 3.6 million days, saving them a combined $167 million in hotel and transportation costs.
