Local entries for the National VA Creative Arts competition are open until Feb. 28. The National Creative Arts Festival will be October 28-Nov. 3 in Kalamazoo, Mich. Submissions will be judged locally with winners submitted for the national competition.

Entrants must be enrolled for care with VA and be an active inpatient or outpatient. Veterans who reside at the Connecticut State Veterans Home are also eligible to enter.

Categories include art, dance, drama, music and creative writing.

Nationwide, VA medical facilities use the creative arts as one form of rehabilitative treatment to help veterans recover from and cope with physical and emotional disabilities

All participants must give written consent for release of photo and voice for publicity. You can enter in up to three categories in each division but only one entry per category.

All drama, dance and music entries must be videotaped. Performance maximum is three (3) minutes.
