Text Message Appointment Reminders & Cancellation System launches in April

In fiscal year 2017, 9.2 million appointments went unused across the Veterans Health Administration due to patients that missed an appointment and failed to cancel.

‚ÄčThe purpose of the No-Show Campaign is to reduce the number of no-shows by marketing new technological advances at VA—such as the VA Online Scheduling Tool, My HealtheVet, and VEText—to facilitate cancellations and increase the number of appointments open to veterans.

A Modernized Message

In addition to leveraging new technologies, VEText allows veterans to take a proactive approach when canceling appointments. VEText gives veterans the opportunity to help other veterans by freeing up appointments that they no longer can make for others to use.

The program will launch at VA Connecticut in April. The service will be available automatically - veterans won't need to opt-in. Patients should ensure that we have the correct phone number on file.

No cell phone? No problem. VEText will not replace other methods of appoinment notification.
