Explosion in maintenance building results in casualties

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – At approximately 8am today, two people tragically lost their lives due to an explosion in the basement of an outer maintenance building. We express our sympathies to the families of the two people who passed away.
The individuals were working on a steam line. The cause of the explosion is under investigation by multiple federal, state and local authorities.
The healthcare system remains open. There is no impact to patient care. No patients were involved in this incident.
We appreciate the support of the first responders who assisted with this incident. Additional information will be shared once it becomes available.
