New site selected for New London Clinic

WEST HAVEN, Conn. — VA Connecticut Healthcare System announces the selection of 6 Shaw’s Cove as the new site for the New London John J. McGuirk VA Outpatient Clinic. The clinic is currently located at 4 Shaw’s Cove.
The new lease expands the clinic to 15,000 square feet under a 20-year $7.8 million lease. This additional space will allow VA Connecticut to enhance care by expanding specialty and telehealth services as well as increasing the number of providers.
With the new location selected, VA Connecticut can begin the design, buildout and activation process with a tentative opening planned for mid-2021.
“Our New London Clinic serves the most Veterans of our six community clinics,” said director Alfred Montoya, Jr. “The move will mark the third time we’ve had to relocate the clinic due to increased workload. We consider that a good thing as it demonstrates a definite need in this region of the state.”
The clinic originally opened in 1994 part-time on the grounds of the Coast Guard Academy. It moved to its current location in 2007.
