I'm a Veteran, too

Many of our employees also served in uniform

Twenty-four percent of the staff also served as members of the U.S. military

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

When you encounter employees here at VA Connecticut, you may very well be face-to-face with a fellow veteran. About 24 percent of our employees once served in uniform. Veteran-employees are represented throughout the organization in both clinical and administrative positions.

We understand what it’s like to be a member of the military and we’re proud to continue that service as members of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

We recently started a campaign to showcase our combined military service and to let our patients and visitors know that many of VA Connecticut’s employees once served, too. The “I’m a Veteran, too” campaign launched this summer featuring the name, photo, branch of service, dates of service and current department on slides that run on our internal communication monitors. These monitors are located throughout our main campuses and the Errera Community Care Center.

The response has been tremendous from both staff and patients.

Our veteran/employees served in uniform and continue to serve our Nation by providing the highest quality care and service to Connecticut veterans. The next time you visit us, consider asking the staff member if he/she served in uniform. You may be pleasantly surprised when the response comes back as, “Yes, I’m a veteran, too.”
