NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY
FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT and FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

Proposed Demolition of Building 14 and Construction and Operation of a Fisher House
Department of Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System
West Haven Medical Center
950 Campbell Avenue
West Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announces preparation and availability of a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and “Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)” for the Proposed Action to demolish Building 14 and construct and operate a Fisher House at the West Haven Medical Center, CT. The VA prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) to document the potential impacts associated with the Proposed Action. The DEA was published for a 30-day comment period, announced in the New Haven Register on November 13, 14, and 15, 2016, and a public meeting describing the Proposed Action was held at the West Haven Public Library on November 17, 2016. VA received comments supporting the Proposed Action. VA did not receive any comments directly related to the analysis in the DEA. Accordingly, the EA has been finalized and concludes the Proposed Action would not constitute a major federal action that would have significant adverse impacts upon the quality of the human environment within the meaning of Section 102(2)(C) of NEPA of 1969. Thus, VA has finalized a FONSI, and the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for the Proposed Action is not required. Electronic copies of the FONSI and Final EA are available at http://www.connecticut.va.gov. Request for additional information must be made within 30 days of this notice to:
